SMALL TOWN FLAVOR GOES NATIONAL

Sorrisos Gourmet Pasta Sauce Wins at the 2011 Fiery Food Challenge

When you think of pasta or tomato sauce, Firth, Nebraska might not be the first place that comes to mind. But think again. Sorrisos, a Firth, Nebraska manufacturer of gourmet pasta sauces, today announced that Sorrisos Spicy Red Pepper Pasta Sauce has been awarded a 1st Place Golden Chile Award in the Condiment – Prepared Sauce category The winners of this contest were announced at ZestFest, held in Irving, Texas, on January 28-30, 2011.

The Fiery Food Challenge, a competition sponsored by Chile Pepper magazine, pits products against one another in more than 80 categories. Professional judges evaluate hundreds of sauces, salsas and other spicy treats and award first, second and third prizes in each category. Awards are proudly displayed at ZestFest, a spicy food event held the same week as the Fiery Food Challenge, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in Irving, TX.

This year, Sorrisos celebrates 15 years of creating and manufacturing products for the gourmet food industry. Sorrisos trend setting products include the popular Sorrisos Sweet & Savory Pasta Sauce, first introduced under the Mick D’Angelos label in 1996, and Sorrisos Hearty Garden Pasta Sauce, introduced in 2007. Sorrisos Spicy Red Pepper Pasta Sauce was created and introduced in January 2010 and has been generating buzz for the brand ever since.

“Can a pasta sauce be spicy and mellow at the same time? Well, Sorrisos proves it can. This smooth, slightly sweet tomato sauce packs a lot of red pepper flavor but keeps the heat levels moderate so everyone can enjoy it.

Sorriso is Italian for smile, which is what you’ll be doing after your first taste.”

~Chile Pepper Magazine, September 2010

Today, the line includes over 6 Italian specialty products that can be found regionally in grocery stores, gourmet food markets and catalogs. Products can also be purchased online at www.sorrisossauce.com.
